Priyanka Mohankumar

Priyanka Mohankumar began her Bharathanatyam journey at the age of 5, inspired by her parent’s strong desire to instill a passion for the fine arts. Their search led them to Sydney Kalaabavanam, a Bharathanatyam school led by Tmt. Suganthy Thayaseelan, was conveniently located nearby. Priyanka began her formal training in 2014 and, each week would eagerly teach her younger sister Harshika the steps she had learned. At just three years old, Harshika mirrored Priyanka's movements, fostering a shared love for dance that motivated the sisters to grow and excel together under their guru's guidance.

Priyanka made her stage debut at Sydney's Riverside Theatre during Sydney Kalaabavanam's school program. Since then, she has performed in various concerts, charities, and cultural events, eaming praise and blessings for her memorable performances. Her repertoire includes appearances at events like Abalyakaram, Kalalkolam, and festivals such as Shivaratri and Navarathri at the Sydney Murugan Temple and Sydney Shri Durga Temple.

Academically, Priyanka has excelled in Bharathanatyam examinations conducted by the Academy of Fine Arts London, achieving straight distinctions in both theory and practical components from Grades 1 to 5, with plans to complete her diploma in the coming years. Her artistic talents also extend to Carnatic singing and piano, which she pursued for several years, showcasing her multifaceted interest in the arts.

 
 

Medha Karthikeyan Sathyapriya

Bharathi Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore, India 06th January 2024

Medha was introduced to the noble art of Bharatnatyam at the age of three When she saw a Bharatnatyam performance happening at a kovil and was extremely intrigued and wanted to join. She later joined Sydney Kalaabavanam at the age of five, flourishing her love for Bharatanatyam. She since then has continued to grow and develop her skills under the guidance of Tmt. Suganthy Thayaseelan. Medha has performed solo performance for charities and kovils, her high school showcases and multi-cultural events. In addition to this Medha has been actively participating in solo and group performances at community events and annual concerts under Sydney Kalaabavan Medha has also had group mentorship classes under Leela Samson. She has further grown in the art with chances to work in showcases directed under the renowned Madurai R Muralidaren. Medha plans to continue dancing and growing under the guidance of Tmt. Suganthy Thayaseelan and actively continue her passion for dance and giving back to the communities by performing for charities and organizations.

 

Vyshali Dharamagesan

NIDA Parade Theatre, Sydney, Australia 23rd September 2023

Vyshali started her dance journey with her first teacher, Vasini Selvajith, who filled her path with love and wisdom. She continued dancing for three more years under the mentorship of Guru Thyanathi Vimalachandran, who was devoted and exceptional. When her family moved to Australia, Vyshali continued to improve her skills with the guidance of Suganthy Thayaseelan. Her dedication paid off when she earned a Grade 5 (Diploma 1) in Bharathanatyam with Distinction from the prestigious London Fine Arts. She also received mentorship from the renowned artist Rukmini Vijayakumar and consistent guidance from her student, Vadhani Asokan. Vyshali's career as a dancer was continued by enchanting performances, including roles in showcases directed by the renowned Madurai R Muralidaren. Notably, she took on the challenging role of Draupadi from Mahabaratham showcasing her dedication to dance.
